Crash knocks out power for hundreds

    MIDDLEFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Route 157 in Middlefield was closed between Main Street and the railroad crossing after a one-vehicle accident Saturday.

    Officials said the vehicle crashed into a pole.

    CL&P originally reported 240 outages as a result of the crash: 58 in Middlefield and 182 in Middletown.

    As of Saturday evening there were just a handful remaining without power: 19 in Middlefield and 3 in Middletown.

    The accident remains under investigation.
