NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) -- An elderly couple was taken to the hospital after crashing into a tree and rolling their SUV in Norwalk Friday.
The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m., on the northbound side of the Merritt Parkway, between the exit and entrance ramps of Exit 38.
Officials said a Lexus SUV struck a 30' tree knocking it down. The SUV then flipped and rolled, coming to rest on its side against the fallen tree.
The two elderly occupants were assisted from the SUV by passing motorists and were being treated to by a nurse and EMT when emergency crews arrived.
The elderly man and woman were both conscious and speaking with paramedics at the scene. They were taken to Norwalk Hospital.
The couple's dog appeared uninjured and was taken by Norwalk Police Department's animal control officers.
State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
