Man killed after abrupt stop on I-95

MILFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A 26-year-old West Haven man was killed in a crash on I-95 in Milford Tuesday night.

Chauncey Shoulders was driving in the center lane of I-95 heading south near exit 39A around 11:30 p.m. when he abruptly stopped in the road and was hit by the car traveling behind him.

Shoulders' car spun out and came to rest in the right shoulder of the road, while the other car veered left and stopped after hitting the jersey barrier on the left shoulder.

Police say the weather was clear, the road was dry and there was light traffic.

Shoulders was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the second car was not seriously injured in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
