Woman dead after being hit by car in Wethersfield

WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A female pedestrian has died after she was struck by a car Tuesday evening, police said.
Police responded to reports of a pedestrian being struck by a car at around 6:40 p.m. Tuesday. The incident happened at the intersection of Wolcott Hill and Beverly roads.
Joesefa Mariposque, 72, was found lying unconscious in the northbound lane of Wolcott Hill Road.
Mariposque was treated on the scene and then rushed to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Police say that the driver of the vehicle who hit Mariposque stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or was in the area of Bliss Market at the time of the incident is asked to call police at (860) 721-2900.
