Police: 281 holiday weekend accidents

(WTNH) -- State Police continue to have extra patrols out for the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Police reported 281 accidents, with 59 reported injured and one fatal crash in Vernon.

Police made 59 driving under the influence arrests. There were also 251 seatbelt violations, 2,151 speeding violations and 3,929 hazardous moving violations.

Police say that the additional enforcement was used throughout the three day holiday weekend.

Motorists are asked to report suspected drunk drivers and incidents of reckless motor vehicle operation to police.
