Scooter crashes into car in Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A person was taken to the hospital after their scooter collided with a car in Westport Friday evening.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m., in the area of Post Road East and Imperial Avenue.

After preliminary investigation, police found that the driver of the scooter was traveling eastbound on Post Road East. They allegedly failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with a 2007 Volvo turning left off Post Road East on to Imperial Avenue.

The driver of the scooter sustained serious physical injuries and was taken to Norwalk Hospital.

The driver of the Volvo was uninjured and stayed at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
