New Haven, Connecticut (WTNH) - New Haven police are looking for the vehicle and the driver that hit and killed a motorcyclist.
34-year old Charles Carrasquillo of West Haven was hit early Sunday morning, but the driver kept on going.
It happened on the corner of Howard Avenue and Spring Street.
Police are looking for a large, light colored Cadillac or Yukon type SUV with fancy rims.
The rider of the motorcycle was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A New Haven man describes what he heard. “Last night about 3 o’clock in the morning, I heard a motorcycle roaring at full speed,” said Michael Redmond. “About two minutes later I heard a big crash. And that was it.”
Investigators spent Sunday morning trying to recreate the accident scene. Evidence points to a vehicle traveling east on Spring Street towards Howard Avenue when both collided in the intersection.
It appears that the motorcycle was hit with great force.
Police are doing their best to find the SUV and driver that fled the scene.
Lieutenant Ariel Melendez told News 8, “The offending vehicle is a SUV type, a larger SUV type like a Cadillac or Yukon, light in color with expensive rims.”
New Haven police say Carrasquillo was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
