NORFOLK, Conn. (WTNH) -- A State Trooper was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after a tractor trailer crashed into his cruiser in Norfolk Tuesday morning.
The accident happened around 7 a.m., at the intersection of Route 44 and Route 272.
According to police, the tractor trailer was traveling west on Route 44, while the state police cruiser was heading east on Route 44. Both were approaching the intersection with Route 272 south at the time of the crash.
Police said the tractor trailer was approaching a right hand curve in the road when the rear portion of the trailer crossed over the double yellow lines and struck the front of the cruiser.
The cruiser sustained heavy damage, while the tractor trailer had moderate damage.
Police said the road conditions were wet and slipper at the time of the crash.
The driver of the tractor trailer, 29-year-old Jason Lamar Miller, of New Haven, was wearing his seat belt and was uninjured.
The driver of the cruiser, 35-year-old Robert Hazen, was wearing his seat belt and sustained minor injuries. He was taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for chest, neck, and back pain.
Miller was issued a ticket for speed too fast for conditions and failure to maintain proper lane on a hill or a curve.
