BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- Police say tractor-trailer overturned on I-95 south in Bridgeport Tuesday morning after it was cut off by a SUV.
The accident caused heavy delays for early morning commuters driving through Bridgeport.
"Horrible," one driver said. "We're going to Stamford, it's going to take us two hours to get there."
The truck's driver, 34-year-old Israel Maldonado, and the driver of the SUV, 27-year-old Timothy Hussey were taken to the hospital to be treated for neck injuries.
Hussey was issued an infraction for an improper lane change.
Two lanes were shut down after the truck overturned and spilled some fuel on I-95 southbound near exit 27 around 5:45 a.m.
The accident created a three mile back up, promoting some to take either the Merritt Parkway or Route 1 to avoid the highway.
The accident was cleared around 8:30 a.m., but even then drivers had to encounter the usual eight mile slowdown.
