Vehicle runs red light, hits pedestrian

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in New Haven.

The pedestrian, who is described as a 50-year-old Hispanic male, was crossing the street at Ferry and State at the time of the accident.

Police said the man was in the crosswalk when a vehicle ran a red light and made an illegal left turn.

The vehicle struck the man and fled the scene.

The man was conscious and alert. He was take to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
