HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Members of Connecticut's congressional delegation, public policy experts and others are gathering in Hartford to discuss the state's transportation needs and funding.

Friday's event also includes presentations from Department of Transportation Commissioner James Redeker and former Commissioner Emil Frankel.

Frankel, who is also a former assistant secretary for policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation, will give the keynote remarks.

U.S. Rep. is expected to discuss the federal funding Connecticut has received in recent years for transportation projects.

A group of state legislators and transportation advocates will also participate on a panel to discuss Connecticut's strategies for its transportation services and infrastructure, and what the state should do to improve them.

The event is taking place at the State Capitol. It is hosted by Transit for Connecticut Coalition, a program of the Connecticut Fund for the Environment.
