One killed as car hits Waterford home

Driver taken to hospital

    Waterford (WTNH) - One person was killed early Monday morning in a crash that sent a car up against the side of a house in Waterford.

    Police did not immediately identify the victim, who was a passenger in the car.

    The crash happened just before 1:00 a.m., police said. A 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse was heading South on Old Norwich Road when it crossed into the northbound lane, hit a curb and ended up on its side against a house.

    The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The driver was taken to Backus Hospital in Norwich. That person's name has also not been released.

    There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
