Waterbury, Conn. (WTNH) - A person was struck and killed by a train early Wednesday, police said, halting Metro-North's Waterbury branch train service between Waterbury and Naugatuck.
Police have identified that man as Gregory Cirillo, 39, of Naugatuck. The incident was determined to be a suicide.
It happened somewhere in the area of Eagle Street, which is currently blocked off, the fire department said.
The investigation was conducted by Metro-North, according to Waterbury police Capt. Chris Corbett.
For a time Metro-North had buses taking passengers from from Waterbury to Naugatuck. The tracks have been reopened and service is back to normal.
