(WTNH) -- If you're thinking about heading into New York City to see the ball drop, it's still not too late to hit the road or the tracks.
Metro North has extra trains heading in and out of the city today, New Year's Eve, and tomorrow, New Year's day.
For people who have been on the fence as to whether or not to head to Times Square, there are still plenty of trains leaving from New Haven and ending up at Grand Central. There are also extra trains scheduled after midnight to help get the crowds back to Connecticut safely.
Trains are scheduled to depart from New Haven about every 10 to 20 minutes, now through just before 8. They'll make several stops along the way in New Haven and Fairfield counties.
Return trains will leave Grand Central every 20 to 30 minutes starting at 12:33 a.m. through 4:33 a.m. They also have two additional trains scheduled at 5:33 and 5:35 a.m. On New Year's day they will operate on a holiday schedule.
Full schedules can be found on the Metro North website .
A couple of important notes, if you do plan on taking the train, keep in mind you must purchase your tickets in the station. There will be no on-board ticket sales. And, if you plan on celebrating with some adult beverages, you'll have to finish them up before boarding. Open containers will not be allowed.
Before you head out, check the traffic along I-95, I-91 and I-84 with our online TrafficCams.
