FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Fairfield's top elected official says the roads are in such rough shape from the storm that even emergency vehicles and snow plows are getting stuck.

First Selectman Michael Tetreau said Saturday that the next shift of police and firefighters can't come in because of the roads, so the current shift is staying on duty. He said emergency vehicles got stuck in the snow all night.

He says Fairfield, which suffered extensive flooding in Superstorm Sandy, did not experience significant flooding in the latest storm.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy ordered all roads closed until further notice due to the storm that dumped more than 2 feet of snow over much of the state.

Malloy said Saturday that stalled or abandoned vehicles will only slow the recovery process.
