(WTNH) - Utility crews and tree cutters will finally get a break from the weather in the effort to clear trees and restore power to tens of thousands of people in Connecticut.
For yet another day large portions of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan and Westport remain without electricity, and they may not have power for another day or so.
As of 12:30pm, over 39,000 CL&P customers were without power. United Illuminating has most of the power back on for their customers.
Temperatures will be nearing 60 degrees Tuesday, and winds will be light, giving a break to storm weary residents and work crews. "Sunshine, nice weather and diminishing winds," WTNH Storm Team 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said. "We're looking at a dry period of weather from today right on through the end of the week.
Several towns closed schools again Tuesday because of the amount of cleanup left to do.
Gov. Jodi Rell declared parts of the state a disaster area. State and town officials are adding up the damage to see if Connecticut may qualify for federal disaster funds.
