Norwalk, Conn. (WTNH) - Gov. M. Jodi Rell toured southwestern Connecticut to see damage caused by a strong rain and wind storm that hit over the weekend.
"The devastation is just unbelievable," Rell told News Channel 8's Annie Rourke.
Fairfield County was the hardest hit area of the state. Many roads are still impassable and power outages are in the tens of thousands. Greenwich may not have power until Wednesday, CL&P says. There are more than 15,000 outages in Greenwich and more than 14,000 in Stamford.
Many schools were canceled today as well.
Rell says mayors and first selectman in damages areas across the state need to document damage and costs to see if they qualify for federal disaster assistance.
"We need those dollars to be counted," she said.

As many as three deaths are being blames on the storm. A man in Lyme died Sunday while clearing debris from his yard. A woman in Westport was crushed when a tree fell on her car Saturday and a woman walking in her Greenwich neighborhood was also killed by a falling tree.
