Connecticut's casinos see uptick after storm

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Connecticut's two casinos are seeing an influx in business in the wake of Monday's storm, which shut down the 12 casinos in nearby Atlantic City.

Both the Foxwoods Resort Casino and the Mohegan Sun report their hotels have been at capacity all week.

Neither casino lost power during the storm. Mohegan Sun chief executive Bobby Soper said they have put out the welcome mat for gamblers who cannot get to New Jersey, and for anyone who might just be looking for a diversion or a place with food and electricity.

Foxwoods marketing director Becky Carr said they sent out an email to patrons, letting them know they were open and offering a 50 percent discount on rooms this week.
