MONTVILLE, Conn. (WTNH) -- The whole state has been bracing for the blizzard, but it looks like the eastern part of the state could get the worst of it.
It is certainly going to be a long night for troopers at the state police barracks in Montville and for people clearing the parking lot. They have a lot of snow to deal with and they are just trying to stay ahead of it.
So are many others. In Norwich city plows began their trek through the snow covered streets early, as did private plows hoping to keep parking lots clear throughout the night. Many residents also began cleaning their cars and walkways just as the snow started to fall.
"What is your strategy to stay ahead," asked News 8's Tina Detelj.
"Try to do a couple inches at a time as opposed to trying to come out later and dig myself out of 16, 18, whatever it is 24 inches," said Ralph Klein of Norwich.
"Well we made a tiny snowball and then we just rolled it down a hill and it got bigger and bigger and then we just started stacking them up," said Anna Ricketts of Norwich.
"Does this guy have a name," asked News 8's Tina Detelj.
"His name is Pinocchio because of his long nose," said Simon Ricketts.
"What do you think about having this day off from school," asked News 8's Detelj.
"It's awesome it feels like Saturday," said Anna.
A lot of fun for some but out on the roads it's serious business.
