FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Town of Fairfield officials have ordered mandatory evacuations for areas closest to Long Island Sound.
" Be prepared to stay away from the area for several days," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in a post on the town's website fairfieldct.org .
Residents have been told to get out by noon. Police are expected to be in the area making sure people heed the order.
An emergency shelter has been set up at Ludlowe High School. It will be open at noon for both residents and pets.
