Fairfield residents fall under 3% still without power

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Some residents in Fairfield fall under the 3% of UI customers that have not been restored power yet.

On Cascade Drive, a tree crew came and cut up the tree so resident could get out of their driveway, but not much else has been done.

"Now we've got a storm coming in Wednesday. This UI fellow down here said, 'I hate to tell you this folks, but you're going to be out for a while.' I said, 'can you tell me when the polls will be replaced?' 'Uh no, I have no idea.' Well, it looks like were looking at maybe next week," a resident of the area said.

Certainly next week is not an official estimation by any stretch but when it comes to officials, News 8 talked to State Rep. Tony Hwang. He said it looks like they will be getting new polls in that neighborhood today.

News 8 also spoke with the First Selectman, who said when it comes to this process, they understand the crews have been working very hard but senior management at UI has let everybody down and how it's been using its resources.

Nobody in that Fairfield neighborhood has any idea when they will get power back on.
