Showers, shelter and cell phone charging

(WTNH) - From simple shelters to hot showers, cities and towns in Connecticut are doing what they can to help their residents deal with the aftermath of Irene. We'll add to this list as we get more information from individual towns.

Branford: Shelter and showers at Branford Community House
Showers at YMCA 628 East Main St open to public
Bring towls and toiletries to both.

Clinton, Guilford, Killingworth and Madison: Connecticut Water is establishing four water filling stations for people with private wells and no power.

Colchester: Showers are made available at Bacon Academy for residents needing to clean up. They will be open from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.

East Lyme / Waterford: Pick up water and MREs at Waterford Public Works complex, 1000 Hartford Road (Route 85), 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Families will be allocated one case of water and two MREs per person, depending on family size). The center will remain open until further notice.

Fairfield: ShopRite supermarket is the location of the Police Command Post. It is staffed with emergency personnel and volunteers coordinating the distribution of ice donated by the Cingari family, water and flashlights. The quantity of distribution to each household will be limited to 2 bags of ice and 3 one liter bottles per day.

The following places are available for public showering:
Wings over Water (behind Old Navy), 2221 Black Rock Turnpike from the hours of 9am to 5 pm.
Planet Fitness open hours are Monday - Friday: 24 hours weekends 7:00am - 7:00pm
Penfield Pavilion Fairfield Beach Road Bathrooms are open on front deck 6:30am to 6pm

Greenwich:  The American Red Cross has established a relief station for Greenwich residents without power at the Banksville Independent Fire Company fire station located at 33 Bedford/Banksville Road on North Street just over the New York State Line.

MIddletown: Shelter open at Middletown High School daily from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Lunch will be served at Noon, dinner at 5:00 PM. Bottled water available all day. People will be allowed to use showers. Power will be available to charge small electrical devices (laptops, phones, etc.). Pets will NOT be permitted. Residents, who have wells, may bring buckets and jugs to fill up on fresh water.

Monroe: Masuk High School is open for public showers from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Showers are also available at Wolfe Park 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Old Saybrook: Residents can get a hot shower at Old Saybrook High School. A police trailer is also running its generator so people can get their cell phones charged. Authorities plan to keep it running as long as there is a need.

Old Lyme: The Lymes Senior Center is open to all residents from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. They have water, wireless Internet and cellphone charging. The town says water is also available at the fire stations on Boughton Road, Lyme Street and Cross Lane.

Shelton: Shelton residents can get MREs, water bottles and ice at the Shelton Community Center until 7 p.m. Wednesday. It's at 41 Church St. in Shelton. [Link]

Westport: Westport fire headquarters has a garden hose available for bulk fill up of water but please bring your own containers. Emergency charging for medical equipment only is available 24 hours a day at police headquarters.
