FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) -- Strong storms blasted through the state with numerous lightning strikes Friday night. One of those strikes may have even sparked a house fire.

A house fire broke out at 7 Lilac Street in Farmington sometime shortly after the storms blasted through the area.

One witness told News 8 that lightning struck the attic of the home and caused the fire.

Thunderstorms began to enter western Connecticut around 8 p.m. and those storms followed a path roughly along the I-84 corridor.

The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Farmington area shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.

No severe weather was confirmed, but there were numerous lightning strikes all across the state.
