(WTNH) -- Only nine days after powerful superstorm Sandy slammed Connecticut, a new storm has dumped heavy amounts of snow across parts of the state.
Some places in New Haven County have reported 7 to 12 inches of new snowfall.
Initial forecasts only called for light amounts of snow, but as roads got slick Wednesday afternoon, the predictions quickly changed.
Heavy snow and gusty winds caused rough driving conditions the visibility dropped and roads became slick.
While driving became a nightmare in some areas, strong winds knocked down trees and caused additional power outages in other locations.
The hardest hit areas were across Fairfield and New Haven counties, where some may finish the storm with a foot or more of snowfall. Some coastal sections of New London County did not see much snow at all.
