STRATFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Sikorsky Airport shattered the daily rainfall record for September 28th on Friday.
The airport reported 4.80" of rain for the date, which is more than double the previous record of 2.17" set back in 2004.
As for the year-to-date rainfall, they now are within 0.04" of normal, pretty much erasing any lingering drought concerns.
September 2012 now ranks 5th all time for wettest Septembers on record at Sikorsky. If 0.02" is recorded by the end of Sunday, the month will become the 4th wettest on record.
Heavy rain drenched much of coastal Connecticut with anywhere from 1.00 to more than 5.00 inches of rainfall. Although a few scattered showers are possible this weekend, additional rainfall totals should generally be light.
