Route 34 reopens after being under water

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Route 34 in both direction was closed for much of Friday afternoon due to flash flooding.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, intense rainfall caused flooding across downtown New Haven. Route 34 was hit very hard.

The road was shut down at 3:20 p.m. and remained closed for about three hours before it was reopened.

There was several feet of standing water in both directions of the road.
