Shelters open to help those without power

(WTNH) - Most of Connecticut saw at least five inches of snow by the time the Nor'easter settled.

The mix of rain and snow caused slippery road conditions, road closures and power outages.

News 8 will keep an updated list of emergency shelters opening and road closures throughout the state.

Andover:

  • Andover Town Hall, located at 17 School Rd. will be open during the daytime hours for heat, charging electronics, and basic provisions. Nighttime shelter details are still being figured out.

Bantam:

  • Northfield Fire Department, located at 35 Knifepoint Road.
  • Bantam Center Fire Department, located at 92 Doyle Road.

Berlin:

  • McGee Middle School, located at 899 Norton Road.

Bethel:

  • Bethel Municipal Center, located at 1 School Street.

Bloomfield:

  • An emergency shelter, located at 390 Park Avenue will open as of 3 p.m. Sunday. Domesticated animals may be brought to the shelter, but must be crated and have adequate food. Animals will not be allowed in the shelter, however a location will be provided for crated animals.
  • Seabury Senior Center, located at 200 Seabury Drive.

Bridgewater:

  • Bridgewater Senior Center, located at 132 Hut Hill Road
  • Bridgewater Fire Department, located at 100 Main Street So

Canton:

  • Canton Community Center, located at 40 Dyer Avenue.
  • Town of Canton is offering showers for use at the Mills Pond Recreation Center from 10am-5:30pm through Friday. Residents must bring their own toiletries.
  • Water is available inside Mills Pond pool house daily from 1pm-530pm. Bring your own containers. After hours, a hose connected to the left-hand side of the pool house is available to fill your containers.

Cheshire:

  • Cheshire Senior Center, located at 240 Maple Avenue is open for Cheshire residents who are without power. Call 203-271-5500 for more information.

Cromwell:

  • Woodside Elementary School, located at 30 Woodside Road

Danbury:

  • Danbury War Memorial, located at 1 Memorial Drive.

Durham:

  • Coginchaug High School, located at 135 Pickett Lane

East Hartford

  • East Hartford Town Hall, located at 740 Main Street
  • East Hartford High School, 869 Forbes Street

Enfield:

  • JFK Middle School, located at 155 Raffia Road.

Fairfield:

  • Roger Ludlowe Middle School, located at 765 Unquowa Road

Farmington:

  • Farmington High School, located at 10 Monteith Drive.

Glastonbury

  • Town Hall Academy Wing, located at 2155 Main Street.

Greenwich

  • The Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center, located at 449 Pemberwick Road, will be open through 8 p.m. Sunday.
  • The Greenwich Main Library, located at 101 West Putnam Avenue, will be open through 5 p.m. Sunday.

Hartford:

  • Pope Park Community Center, located at 30 Pope Park Highway.

Kent:

  • Kent Nutrition Center, located at 16 Swift Lane.

Lebanon:

  • Lyman High School, located at 917 Exeter Road.

Manchester:

  • Manchester Senior Center, located at 549 East Middle Turnpike. Call 860-647-3211 for more information.

Mansfield:

  • Mansfield Community Center, located at 4 South Eagleville Road.

Marlborough:

  • Elmer Thienes Elementary, located at 25 School Drive.

Meriden:

  • Lincoln Middle School, located at 164 Centential Ave
  • Max E Maranunick Senior center, located at 22-26 West Main Street
  • Thomas Edison Middle School, located at 1355 N. Broad Street

Middletown:

  • Pets are being accepted at the new animal shelter, located at 124 Sullivan Avenue. Residents are asked to bring a crate for their dogs. The facility is heated so animals will be comfortable.
  • South Windsor Comm Ctr, located at 150 Nevers Rd.

Southbury:

  • Pomperaug High School, located at 234 Judd Road.

Suffield:

  • Suffield High School, located at 1060 Sheldon Street.

Southington:

  • The Calendar House, located at 388 Pleasant Street.

Thompson:

  • Quinebaug Fire Department, located at 155 Old Turnpike Route

Torrington:

    • City Hall auditorium will be open until 4pm

    Trumbull:

    Weston:

    Wethersfield:

    West Haven:

    Willington:

    • Halls School, located at 111 River Road.

    Windsor:

    • L.P. Wilson Community Center, located at 599 Matianuck Avenue. No pets allowed.

    Wolcott:

    • Tyrell Middle School will be open until 10pm Monday and on Tuesday
    • Senior Center open as charging and heating center

    Additionally, there have been several parking bans and road closures reported.
