HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — For the first time in 11 days, nearly all Connecticut residents and businesses have their power back on after a hurricane smashed into the Northeast, followed by an early season snow storm.

Connecticut Light & Power reported only nine customers without power Friday morning and United Illuminating said 28 customers in the shoreline towns it serves did not have electricity.

At its peak, about 625,000 customers in Connecticut were without power on Oct. 30, hours after Superstorm Sandy pounded the region.

It's likely that most of the remaining few homes and businesses not reconnected to the grid were made uninhabitable by Sandy or electrical systems must be inspected before power is restored.

CL&P said Thursday it was sending workers to help restore power in New York and New Jersey now that local restoration work is done.
