New Haven (WTNH) - Whether you love it or hate it, some plow drivers in Litchfield say they don't have enough snow this year.

The Litchfield Department of Public Works says they usually average more than five feet of snow per season.
"This year we've only had 25 inches of snow. In the last year we've had 65 inches of snow for the entire season," Jack Healy, Director, Litchfield DPW.

But independent contractors like Chris Korn say bring it on! His income is down by half this year and he needs the cash to keep his landscaping business going.
"It makes a difference. Generally, we'll use the snow plowing to go through equipment, repair, perhaps buy new equipment at the end of the season," he said.
Storm Team 8's Gil Simmons says while Litchfield is seeing less snow this year, the shoreline is seeing more.
"It happens with an El Nino season, a lot of people throw that around. It typically means the jet stream is a bit further south and that favors southern Connecticut versus northern Connecticut. A lot of years we see the shoreline get rain," Gil explained.
But the folks at Litchfield DPW are not complaining - they are saving big.
"We typically average about $55-60,000 a year. So far this year we've only spent about $30,000," Healy said.
