NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) - The snow continued to pile up on the East Haven and New haven town line because the plows never came.
On the border, Legend Lane is completely snowed in. As difficult as it make be to walk through the snow in this area, driving through would be nearly impossible.
"Unfortunately, you saw the snow, we have to dig ourselves out. New Haven will come eventually, but we don't know what time or what day, says Frank Aiello of New Haven.
Brett Aiello says that when he calls public works of both New Haven and East Haven he doesn't get a response.
So, News 8 put two calls in to New Haven Mayor John Destefano's press secretary. Maybe it's a coincidence, maybe not, but seven minutes later the cavalry arrives.
The Aiello's are happy again. They have been living on the corner of Sleepy Hollow and Legend Lane since 1989. Things like this were handled much better, back in the day. When East Haven and New Haven had an agreement to assist each other along several border spots the plowing would always get done.
"After two or three years, that ended when East Haven said New Haven wasn't holding up it's end of the deal. Ever since then it's been difficult for someone to come and do it," Frank Aiello.
News 8 did not get a call back from Mayor Destefano's office, but the plow did arrive and the families on Legend Lane can be reunited with the rest of civilization.
