26,000 without power from storm

More than 26,000 customers are without power after a powerful line of thunderstorms swept across the state.

CL&P reports more than 80% of the town of Colchester is without power at this hour. Significant outages are also reported in Columbia, Hebron and Windham.

In Chaplin, Route 198 is closed in both directions at Bedlam Road after trees came down into power lines. That area is expected to be closed for up to eight hours, the Department of Transportation said.

Storm Team 8's Gil Simmons has received reports of hail in Wallingford and Waterbury.

United Illuminating reported more than 120 outages, in Shelton, Hamden and Bridgeport.
