Windsor Locks, Conn. (WTNH) - A young boy lost something very dear to his heart because of the storm.
Alejandro Munoz, a 9-year-old boy from Windsor Locks, not only lost power as a result of the autumn nor'easter, he also lost his beloved pet fish, Zippy.
When the Munoz family lost power, they drove five hours to a hotel near family. They didn't think Zippy would survive the drive, so they wrapped his bowl in a towel before they left.
"When I finally came upstairs, I saw my fish frozen," Alejandro said. "He was still moving his fins, but he was half-dead."
The family slowly heated up Zippy's water in an effort to save him.
Alejandro said, "And then we put him in a container. We feed him, but he didn't do any moves. So I made the decision to flush him down the toilet."
Alejandro says he will always remember Zippy.
