Hartford, Conn. (WTNH) - In the aftermath of the Autumn Nor'easter, a word frequently being used is frustration. On Tuesday, frustration seemed to appear on Governor Dannel Malloy's face.
"We are underwhelmed by the support that we're getting from outside the state. We've been disappointed in the execution of some of the promises that have been made here to fore, with respect to crews and the expectation that they would arrive," said Malloy.
The scope of this natural disaster is such that the Governor and the state's Congressional delegation has made an urgent plea for help from the federal government.
"Your local utilities have been overwhelmed. This is an incredible undertaking," said Bill Bryan from the US Department of Energy.
The head of CL&P has been talking since Sunday about help coming to Connecticut, but not that much help is coming.
"The Department of Energy has been asked to intercede to make sure more assets are on their way and to the extent that those assets aren't coming immediately to Connecticut, that they assure us those assets will not leave the region until Connecticut is fully connected," said Malloy.
Tuesday afternoon, the Governor visited the shelter at the L.P. Wilson Community Center in Windsor. 400 people spent the night here Monday night. Hundreds are there on Tuesday to enjoy the warmth and the meals.
Just like during Irene, the National Guard has set up shop on the runway at the Pratt and Whitney plant in East Hartford ready to receive food, water and other supplies for the hardest hit areas. FEMA is flying it to Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee and to the facility at Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Sgt. Jordan Werme said, "They're trucking in supplies from those locations to the state to here at Rentchler Field and form here we're going to distribute to the towns and communities that have requested supplies."
The National Guard will be sending those supplies to more than 20 communities that have requested them.
They will truck the supplies to towns that can't pick it up and will distribute it to people who can get to the Rentchler Field airstrip behind Pratt and Whitney and the Cabellas store.
