WASHINGTON (AP) - New research finds being happy could be good for your heart.

Scientists have long known that there's a higher risk of heart attacks for people with Type A personalities and those who are chronically angry, anxious or depressed.

Now a Harvard review of studies has taken a look at the flip side of that psychology. It concludes that being upbeat and optimistic just may help protect against heart disease.

A number of studies in the review found the most optimistic people had half the risk of a first heart attack when compared to the least optimistic.

The review was published Tuesday by the Psychological Bulletin.
