REDMOND, Ore. (AP) — Authorities in Oregon say a Bend man tried to board a plane with an explosive device, but it doesn't appear he intended to cause any harm.

KTVZ reports that police were called to the Redmond Airport on Thursday to assist Transportation Security Administration screeners.

Redmond police say the explosive device was secured and 24-year-old Joseph Seeley was detained for questioning. He was later cited and released on a misdemeanor charge of possession of an explosive without a license or permit.

The case will be reviewed by the Deschutes County District Attorney's Office and the U.S. attorney.
