CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio (AP) — Police allege a northeast Ohio man ate at a fast food restaurant, walked across the street to buy a sledgehammer and then returned to the restaurant to smash some of its windows.
Cuyahoga Falls Police Captain Jack Davis tells radio station WTAM that a 45-year-old area resident ate at a Wendy's restaurant on Monday evening before walking to a nearby home improvement store to buy a six-pound sledgehammer. Police say the suspect then shattered several exterior windows at the restaurant, causing an estimated $4,000 in damage.
Davis says the man told police he wanted people "to notice him" but did not mean to hurt anyone.
A local hospital was treating the suspect for injuries from the broken glass. He was expected to face charges of vandalism and inducing panic.
