| The Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Health Fair Bus is currently conducting a Health and Wellness tour, making stops in New Haven, Hartford, and Waterbury to support member wellness and promote a healthy lifestyle message throughout the communities in which we live and work. Folks will receive, free-of-charge, a health evaluation consisting of a full lipid panel; weight, height and waist measurements; blood pressure test; and Body Mass Index. | The Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut is a temporary "home away from home" for families of children who are being treated at nearby hospitals and healthcare facilities, such as the Children's Hospital at Yale-New Haven, Yale-New Haven Hospital, The Hospital of St. Raphael, Bridgeport Hospital. With a proper referral they will house the family of any child being treated in any nearby health facility.

To coincide with the observance of National Hunger Awareness Day on June 3, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield sponsored its third annual "Healthy Helpings" food drive to benefit local food banks.
The food drive ran from June 1 to 19. In just three weeks Anthem employees donated more than 1,000 pounds of food which the Connecticut Food Bank can make into 800 meals.
In addition to donating the employee food donations to the Connecticut Food Bank , which serves the New Haven area and two-thirds of the state, Anthem also presented $1,500 in Stop & Shop gift cards to both the Connecticut Food Bank and FoodShare, which serves the remaining one-third of the state. These two organizations will use the gift cards to augment the non-perishable donations with dairy, meat and fresh produce, or provide them to their clients so they can purchase those items for themselves. |
