When you approach the steps of the Bee & Thistle Inn and Spa strewn with petals you know you are going to have a dining experience.


Whether you choose to have a cocktail in one of our beautiful common rooms or take a beverage to stroll the sculpture garden and grounds or sit in an Adirondack chair along the banks of the Lieutenant River and watch the sun go down – be serenaded by strolling guitar players that play songs that make memories. Upon sitting in our gardens porches or main dining room with beautiful candlelight and being served by our exquisite staff, Chef Kristofer Rowe creates an array of beautiful seasonal fare – hand picked vegetables from our garden, you can linger as long as you like, you may retire to the common rooms for an after dinner drink and if you’re lucky enough to be a guest at the inn, you can walk upstairs to your room.

The Bee and Thistle sits nestled on five acres bordering the Lieutenant River, in the township of Old Lyme, Connecticut. The Inn is available as a large private guest house or by the individual room on a bed & breakfast basis, daily, weekly, or monthly. All of our nine guest rooms are adorned with elegant accents, each individual in design. Therein you will find fine linens, down pillows and a private bath.

While you relax as our guest, there are many pleasant diversions just minutes away. You can choose from local museums, galleries and concerts. Or, as an alternative, you can enjoy shopping at one of the many antique and specialty stores in town.
