| Since 1969, Special Olympics Connecticut has been providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities; giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. In addition to it's traditional programs, Special Olympics Connecticut also offers Unified Sports - partnering individuals with and without intellectual disabilities to inspire respect, acceptance, inclusion and frienship for people of all abilities, a Young Athletes program and and a Unified Arts program, among others. |
