| The Garde Arts Center is southeastern Connecticut's non-profit center for the performing arts. The Garde owns and operates the historic 1450-seat Garde Theater where it presents its Broadway Series of national touring musicals, plus opera, orchestras, contemporary music, dance, film, and family events. The new 130-seat Oasis Room at the Garde has become a national venue for touring jazz artists. The Garde's education program provides after-school programs, a summer camp and matinee and family performances to more than 12,200 young people each year. Since 1988, under the leadership of Steve Sigel, Executive Director, the Garde has become a major catalyst for the cultural and economic revitalization of New London and the region. |
