| Heather Caldwell from Kidde discusses the launch of Operation Save a Life program with WTNH and local fire departments. Operation Save a Life launches on WTNH on Sept. 19. Numerous fire departments will participate and receive smoke and CO alarms, donated by Kidde, which will be distributed and installed in homes around the viewing area. Some facts: Smoke alarms should be replaced every 10 years, and 17 million homes in America have outdated alarms. Smoke alarms should be installed on every floor and inside/outside of bedrooms. The sooner you hear an alarm, the more time you have to respond. When replacing smoke alarms, consider using one with a sealed, long-life battery. This type of alarm offers maintenance-free protection for 10-years, and you never have to replace the battery. CO alarms should be installed on every floor and in sleeping areas. CT has a law requiring CO alarms in all homes built after 2005. Kidde is the world’s largest manufacturer of fire safety products. Their mission is to provide solutions that protect people and property from the effects of fire and its related hazards. For more than 90 years industry leaders, the military, airlines and firefighters have relied on Kidde to deliver superior fire detection and suppression. Consumers will find that same advanced fire safety technology in Kidde's residential and commercial smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, fire extinguishers and other life safety products. |
