(WTNH) -- Gas prices have exceed $4.00 per gallon in Connecticut for the first time since mid-May.
According to AAA, that the average price for a gallon regular gasoline in Connecticut rose to $4.003 Saturday morning.
The last time the average price for a gallon of gas in Connecticut was over $4.00 was back on May 16th.
Compared to this time last year, the average price per gallon was $3.91 in 2011. In the summer of 2011, prices started high in the summer and then fell. The opposite has happened in 2012.
Compared to neighboring states, Connecticut has higher average gas prices than any state on the East Coast, including New York.
Nationally, Connecticut ranks 4th highest out of the 50 states. Only Hawaii, California and Washington have higher gas prices.
Nearby average gasoline prices per gallon:
Massachusetts - $3.77
