PD: Good Samaritan helps 2 in water after kayak tips over

FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) - A Good Samaritan is being recognized by Fairfield police for helping two kayakers on Thursday.

According to officials, around 2:15 p.m., police responded to Pine Creek after receiving 911 calls of swimmers in distress.

Units say a man and a woman were in a kayak when it tipped over.

Police say the Good Samaritan heard the calls for help and used his paddleboard to assist in rescuing the duo.

No injuries were reported.

The man, who owns the kayak, was charged for not having a life jacket on board.
