Some drivers are braving the roads during Labor Day weekend, crawling through bumper to bumper traffic.
They're trying to squeeze in one last summer getaway.
"I'm going to visit family for the last holiday weekend," said Anita Ganesh.
"I'm actually heading home," one of them said.
Some drivers feeling the pain at the pump are altering their weekend plans.
"The prices are going like so high right now. It's not possible to go anywhere," another Connecticut resident said.
"And bumper-to-bumper!" News 8's Noelle Gardner noted.
Exactly look at that. It's just terrible," the man said.
The high prices are forcing some locals to take stay-cations.
"We don't want to travel too far, because of gas prices." said Nate Figueroa. "[The traffic] is outrageous."
