71-year-old man arrested in fatal Naugatuck crash

NAUGATUCK, Conn. (WTNH) - A 71-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a fatal head-on collision that happened in Naugatuck, back in February.

Police say Alexander Oneschuk, of Naugatuck, was arrested on an outstanding warrant that stemmed from a two vehicle crash that occurred on February 27th of this year on Guntown Road.

An investigation determined that Oneschuk had crossed the center line and collided head-on with a vehicle being driven by 43-year-old Daniel Lucas, of Oxford.

Lucas died on scene from injuries he sustained in the collision.

Oneschuk was arrested and charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle, failure to drive in the proper lane on a multiple-lane highway, reckless driving, operating under suspended registration, mandatory security requirements (no insurance) and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. 

Oneschuk was held on a $100,000 bond.
