Avon, Connecticut (WTNH) - Police say they want to speak to a Massachusetts man whosefamily was found slain in their Winchester, Massachusetts homeWednesday. The man they are looking also has family members inAvon.
43-year-old Thomas Mortimer's wife, two children andmother-in-law were found slain inside their Winchester home. Policeare calling it a quadruple homicide, calling the scene inside theWindsong Lane home "horrific" and "unspeakable."
The victims have been identified as Thomas Mortimer, age 4;Charlotte Mortimer, age 2; the children’s mother, Laura StoneMortimer, age 41; and Laura’s mother, Ragna Ellen Stone, age64.
Connecticut State Police spent much of the day at the Mortimer'sparent's Avon home on Stony Corners Circle. While News 8 wasasked by investigators to leave the Avon property Wednesday night,Mortimer's father told the Boston Globe on the phone that thingsseemed "... pretty fine. It's hard to understand whathappened."
Becky Sahl, a neighbor, told News 8 the family was "veryfriendly, kind, from what I can tell. Nice people, friendlypeople."
"I think if he saw the police, he wouldn't come here," saidRandy Ball, a resident on Stony Corners Circle.
The victims were found dead at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after otherfamily members said they had not been able to reach them sinceMonday night.
