WESTPORT, Conn. (WTNH) -- A man and woman were arrested Wednesday for a larceny attempt that occurred at a bank in Westport earlier in the day.
The incident occurred at Chase Bank, located on Post Road West.
Police said Eric J. Christian, 28, of Norwalk, and Candace M. Zulawski, 22, of West Haven, went into the bank and attempted to withdraw money from an account that had insufficient funds and had a warning on it.
The bank then called police giving them the vehicle's license plate number and a description of the suspects, who had left the area on Post Road West.
Police located the vehicle in a rear parking lot, at 728 Post Road East. As an officer approached the vehicle, the driver, Christian, exited the vehicle and ran into the woods.
Zulawski was taken into custody at the vehicle.
After a two hour search, Christian was located in the rear wooded area of a Hillandale Road residence and arrested.
Christian was charged with third-degree criminal attempt at larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, seven counts of third-degree identity theft, trafficking in personal information, criminal impersonation, and violation of probation.
Police said evidence seized at the scene revealed that Christian had been using people's personal information to facilitate identity theft related crimes.
He was unable to post bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on July 26th.
Zulawski was charged with third-degree criminal attempt at larceny and third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny.
She was unable to post bond and is scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on July 27th.
