MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) -- A robber ambushed a woman Thursday morning, put a gun to her head and forced his way into the Manchester Marshalls.
K-9's sniff their way in the rain for any scent of a suspect who forced his way into Marshall's just after 7 a.m. Thursday morning.
Police say an employee was walking off the bus, when the suspect was hiding behind a pillar and put a gun to her head.
"And forced his way into the store. Once he was in the store then he corralled up the employees that were inside the store at the time to a back room where he proceeded to rob the store," said Capt. Christopher Davis.
The suspect is described as a black man wearing a ski mask. He is about 5'7" with a southern drawl. He was wearing a blue shirt, blue hoodie, and jeans.
The man got away with cash, but police did not say how much.
Davis says another woman came in for work, realized something was not right and called 911.
"Whether or not this individual may have come into the store prior, whether or not he had some knowledge of the store, that's all stuff for the investigation," Davis said.
A scene like this is why John Morin says he's been driving his wife Sally, a Marshalls' employee, to work for the past seven years.
"I'll sit here even if she has a fellow employee walk in behind her," he said. "I'll still wait until she's inside, but that's just me."
A routine his wife is lucky to have.
"I'm lucky to have her too you know," he said. "It goes both ways with that."
No one was hurt in the incident.
