WALLINGFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- Wallingford Police arrested a 28-year-old for pointing a rifle at two officers.
Around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Meriden Police contacted Wallingford Police about locating the driver of a car that failed to stop for them.
Wallingford Police went to 262 Highland Avenue, the listed address for the vehicle owner, Adam Grella.
When officers arrived at the house, Grella was holding a rifle and failed to comply with orders to drop the weapon, police said, and instead pointed the gun at the officers.
The officers were able to seek cover and Grella went into the house with the weapon, police reported.
Grella exited the house without the weapon after phone contact and was arrested without further incident, police said.
Officers seized the military style AR15 rifle that was fully loaded.
Grella admitted he pulled the trigger of the weapon when he was pointing it at the officers, but it didn't fire because he neglected to remove the safety, police said.
Grella, 28, was charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, first-degree Reckless Endangerment, and second-degree Breach of Peace.
He is being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct 31.
