One woman is dead and five people are injured after a shooting at the Key Club Cabaret in New Haven early Saturday morning.
An officer working outside of the club, located at 85 Saint John Street, heard gunfire at around 3:30 a.m. and rushed in as a crowd of over a hundred patrons were rushing out through the club's main doorway.
Six gunshot victims were located within the club's after-hours area.
Erica Robinson, 26, of West Haven suffered fatal wounds and was pronounced dead.
Jahad Brumsey, 29, Nijia Ward, 24, Albert Dickerson, 34, Amanda John, 19, and Ivette Sterling, 25, all of New Haven were also shot.
Their conditions have not been released. Police have said Robinson was not the intended target.
All available officers along with firefighters and emergency medical personnel from the New Haven Fire Department were dispatched. A number of ambulances were summoned to transport victims to area hospitals.
As of this release, one female victim has died, two are listed in critical condition and three are being treated for non-life threatening wounds and injuries. Of the injured, three are female and two are male.
Detectives have begun their investigation and have been interviewing several witnesses. Thus far, a suspect has not been identified.
